P&M Aviation may be going through a period of reorganisation and consolidating by moving from two premises into one, but the British microlight manufacturer still has time and energy to produce a brand new aircraft, the HypeR. The flex-wing trike was given its debut at the weekend’s Microlight Trade Fair at Popham, Hants.
The HypeR is conventional with a tubular steel frame but has composite body panels enclosing the frame and much of the engine. The bodywork provides adjustable seating for two, and also has a huge underseat storage area making it useful for long distance touring. Upfront, there’s a tall wrap around windscreen said to significantly reduce wind buffet for both pilot and passenger.
The HypeT is powered by a Rotax 912ULS engine, and can be fitted with a BRS parachute as an option. Fuel tank is 65 litres. The wing is P&M’s proven GTR topless wing over 13 sq metres, which can be trimmed to fly from 55 to 95 mph. It also has a Stability and Roll System (STARS) which provides ease of handling in all conditions, says P&M.
P&M’s Tim Jackson said the HypeR’s price would be between the Quik and PulsR.
