World aviation records set in December? Well, yes, sort of. A total of 59 pedal planes attended the Annual World Pedal Plane Gathering at the Shuttleworth Museum on 29 December 2021, beating the previous record of 53 set by the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) at Oshkosh, USA on 24 July 2019.
The record-setting event was organised as a joint effort between YES Flyers (Youth Education Support) and The Plane Guy (Andre Faehndrich), with activities provided by the Light Aircraft Association, Shuttleworth Discovery Team, IPMS Brampton and OWMAC realflight simulators.
Pedal planes from across the world, alongside UK pedal plane owners and their mini-pilots were invited to gather to be part of this historic aviation event and all participants were awarded a participation certificate.
“Getting 59 of these little planes from all over takes some doing in itself!” said Stewart Luck, a former airline Captain and volunteer for YES Flyers.
“We’re over the moon with this record smash and hope it continues to inspire future generations of young pilots. A huge thank you goes to all those involved with the event and to the hosts of the activities.”

Funny, now pedals airplane they have their own world record
When Panshanger Airfield was still open , there were two small yellow pedal planes round the back of the cafe which my young daughter used to love playing in . I often wonder what happened to them when it closed . Anybody know ?
