Save Nottingham City Airfield Group (SNAG), the group led by determined campaigner Sarah Deacon, has started a Crowdfunder campaign to raise funds for a Judicial Review,
A Judicial Review would be the next step should the local council adopt the proposed local plan which would build a new town on the airport, also known as Tollerton.
Sarah said, “Rushcliffe Borough Council appears to be preparing to adopt the Gamston‑Tollerton Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) in its current form – despite serious gaps in key evidence on traffic, Highways, drainage, flooding and even viability.
“If the SPD is approved without a robust and lawful evidence base, our only remaining option will be to pursue a Judicial Review of the adoption decision.
“Judicial Review is a vital safeguard which ensures public bodies follow the law, but it is also expensive, and is beyond the means of a volunteer community group without support.”
SNAG says it has been trying to get hold the Viability Assessment for the proposed housing project but Rushcliffe Borough Council has refused.
“The recent quashing of a Planning Authority’s decision in Birmingham on the grounds of a lack of transparency after they failed to publish full Viability Assessment documents is very significant,” continued SNAG.
“If RBC [the council] decide to adopt the SPD [planning document] without the required information that National Highways and County Highways have said is needed, then we will need to seek a judicial review of that decision.
“Asking a judge to review the decision will mean complete transparency.”
