Air Race F1, a Formula One air racing series which will launch in Lleida Spain on 1 June, has announced that the three major Formula One Air Racing Associations have formally agreed to sanction the event, granting Air Race F1 recognition as an official international competition by all active governing bodies of Formula One Air Racing.
The three official associations which govern the sport of Formula One Air Racing come from The United States, the United Kingdom and France.
The three associations will sanction Air Race F1 and ratify the results as official provided that it be run in a safe and fair manner according to their official rules. The three associations will jointly run the contest under a common approved set of Formula One rules.
In Formula One – the oldest air race class – all aircraft race directly against each other at the same time at speeds of over 400kph on a tight circuit just 2km end to end.
The Air Race F1 will be hosted by the Lleida-Alguaire Airport on 1 June 2014.
