Air Race World Cup to begin in one month

Air Race 1, a multiple-airplane racing series, is set to begin in just one month, taking place on three continents throughout 2015. The exclusive series of real air racing starts on 7 June 2015 in the resort town of Monastir, Tunisia, and will be the first race of its class on the African continent.
The race teams will then have to prepare quickly for the next race which takes place in Lleida, Catalunya, Spain on 28 June. The final race of the Air Race 1 World Cup will be held in Reno, USA, during the famed Reno Air Races on 20 September where the world cup trophy of formula air racing will be handed out for the first time to the overall winner.
Jeff Zaltman, CEO of Air Race 1, said, “A lot of work and effort was put into this series by hundreds of people and many prestigious organisations. Air racing fans and indeed the air racing industry have waited a long time for a true international air race series where pilots race directly against each other on a closed circuit, as in most other forms of motorsport. We expect this exciting series to be a popular mainstream sport in the near future. We thank our host partners TAV Airports, Aeroports de Catalunya and the Reno Air Racing Association for being visionary in their support of air racing.”
