Sywell-based aerobatic display team, The Blades, has donated over £4,000 to Aerobility, a charity which gives disabled people the opportunity to fly.
The Blades have hosted an annual charity event, The Blades Ball, for almost a decade. It raises vital funds for a selection of nominated charities which includes the team’s charity partner, the RAF Benevolent Fund, Aerobility, and a Northamptonshire charity chosen by the Blades event committee.
“The team has supported Aerobility for many years and we hope to continue our support for many more,” said Andy Evans, Blade 1 and Team Leader.
“Aerobility is a fantastic charity. Flying is one of the greatest experiences you can have and Aerobility provides the platform which enables disabled people that very same opportunity.
“It’s a privilege to support something so worthy and we hope that our donation will help more people to fly. The Blades Ball, to date, has raised over £2m for charity which is a great achievement and one we are very proud of.”
Aerobility provides ‘Experience of a Lifetime’ trial flying lessons for as many terminally ill and disabled people as possible. It also has subsidised flying days for other disability charities, and at-cost instruction and qualification flight training for disabled people.
