Brighton City Airport signs Shoreham contract

Brighton City Airport Ltd has announced that it will continue to manage operations at Shoreham Airport, following the conclusion of negotiations with Albemarle Shoreham Airport Ltd (ASAL). A statement from Brighton City Airport Ltd explained it remains committed to securing the sustainable and profitable future of the airport.
Albemarle Shoreham Airport Limited has appointed BCAL to manage operations at the airport for a 30 year period. ASAL has, in turn, stated its intention to finance the costs and complete the work of refurbishing the listed terminal building at the airport. ASAL now has scaffolding in place, ready to start the refurbishment process and work is due to commence shortly.
The directors of Brighton City Airport Ltd have always maintained that with the right investment, the airport could become profitable and presented details of their business plan to officers of the councils concerned back in May. Tony Realff, joint owner of Brighton City Airport Ltd said, ‘We are delighted that negotiations with ASAL have concluded in a positive way and we can get on with the important business of running the airport’.
Brighton City Airport Ltd, founded in July 2013, has managed airside operations since August 2013. With revenue and aircraft movements up, the management team is very positive about the future for Shoreham airport, one of the busiest in the UK in terms of movements, including take offs and landings. In August 2013 Shoreham airport was the 10th busiest in the UK in terms of movements.
