Brighton City Airport to expand maintenance

Maintenance company Apollo Aviation at Brighton City Airport has been acquired by ADR Candelon, the company which operates airport – better known as Shoreham Airport. Apollo Aviation is an approved service centre for Diamond Aircraft, Austro Engines and Continental Diesels.

Candelon also owns the controlling stake in the airport as well as Flying Time Aviation (FTA), a professional pilot flight training organisation based on the field. FTA has a fleet of Diamond aircraft.

“We’ve been talking to Peter Villa at Apollo Aviation for several months and this deal has just been concluded,” said Jonathan Candelon, director of Brighton City Airport. “Peter was keen to sell a majority stake in his business because he wanted to grow it but also take a step back.

“From our perspective at the airport, Apollo has a good and long established reputation. They also maintain the Diamond aircraft fleet at FTA, our commercial pilot training school. This gives us the opportunity to control the aircraft engineering aspect, providing more security for FTA operations.”
