British pilot Tom Arscott is the new World Gliding Champion in the standard class.
Tom triumphed after ten days of racing in hot and dry conditions at the 37th FAI World Gliding Championships, held at Narrowmine in NSW Australia.
He placed third in the final race, consolidating a healthy lead he had built up in earlier races while flying a borrowed LS8 glider.
Engineer Tom’s previous international competition successes include Junior World Champion in 2015 and European Champion in 2019.
Three classes were raced: 15 metre, Standard and Club. Philip Jones of Team GB came 5th in the 15m event, and Tim Milner 7th in the Club class.
