UPDATE:
Cardiff Airport has issued the following NOTAM which details opening times for both the airport and the controlled airspace. When an ATC service is not available from Cardiff, parts of the airspace will be delegated to Bristol, while other parts will revert to class G.
The issue was highlighted by local pilots and mentioned during the FLYER Livestream. Thanks to the CAA and Cardiff for resolving the situation promptly.
Cardiff Airport, one of the best ‘big’ airfields for General Aviation, has issued a Notam detailing reduced hours for both the airport and its radar service.
Unusually, even when closed, the controlled airspace will remain in place. Control of the airspace for VFR access is not being delegated, meaning that it effectively becomes a large prohibited area.
