Cirrus Design has reached a milestone with the completion of its 2,000th aircraft.
The first 1,000 aircraft took four years to build, while the second 1,000 took two.This year, it’s expected to finish 600.
About 80 percent are sold in North America and the rest internationally.
The company’s flagship aircraft model, the SR22, is currently the best-selling model of single-engine aircraft in the world.
Last year, the company delivered 459 of them, according to the General Aviation Manufacturers Association. The nearest competitor is Cessna’s 172S Skyhawk with 204 delivered. Cessna remains the world’s No. 1 manufacturer of general aviation aircraft.
