Cirrus unveils connected 2016 SR aircraft

Cirrus has announced a series of updates for its 2016 aircraft including enhanced connectivity, convenience, design and luxury. Cirrus is the first piston-engine aircraft manufacturer to include Garmin’s Flight Stream in the cockpit, enabling wireless connectivity between mobile devices, such as an iPad, and the avionics.

A new Digital Advantage Package Pilots allows pilots to flight plan at home or at work, transfer flight plans to and from the avionics seamlessly, easily change route mid-flight, display a new and wide array of flight information including pitch, bank and GPS data, plus control the SiriusXM radio – all via a mobile device.

Cirrus SR20 and SR22 piston-engine aircraft have substantial cockpit upgrades and enhanced connectivity for 2016.

Other new features include:

• All 2016 Cirrus SR20s and SR22s will be delivered with a new Bluetooth audio panel that allows for phone calls and music to be wirelessly connected and directed to any occupant in the cabin.
• New, redesigned seats for the pilot and co-pilot come equipped with a stow pocket for mobile devices to enable easy use during flight.
• New magnetic clasp side straps secure headsets when not in use and reduce clutter in the cockpit.
• Premium European leather cabin upholstery, on par with top class cars.
• New exterior colours and designs in three options: Carbon, Platinum and the new Rhodium.
• Remote keyless entry system to lock and unlock both pilot and passenger doors.
• Exterior convenience lighting illuminating steps and cabin, and a baggage compartment light activated when opening the baggage door.
