We’re not natural Euro bashers in the FLYER office, but news of draft EU legislation to make it mandatory for all aeroplanes (except microlights and sailplanes) to carry £68 (yup that’s ‘million’) worth of third party insurance does seem, well, bonkers.
AOPA UK did a little research and they tell us that the premium for such insurance would be somewhere in the region of £7500 pa for a C172, plus of course an extra few hundred per passenger
seat. AOPA tell us it is on the case and would like to hear your views on the above.
