VIDEO AERO Friedrichshafen is Europe’s leading exhibition for general aviation and this year’s event is shaping up to be one of the best yet. It’s staged at a purpose-built exhibition centre on the grounds of Friedrichshafen Airport, not far from Lake Constance – or, as it’s known locally, Bodensee.
The organisers say 600 exhibitors from 38 countries will be at the event, from gliders and microlights right up to light business jets and turboprops, with everything in between.
There will be special emphasis, as in previous years, on innovation in the form of electric and hybrid aircraft, avionics and flight training. It’s the event where many manufacturers of both aircraft and equipment choose to launch new products in Europe.
It’s also where Europe’s policymakers – EASA – and industry and other interested parties meet to discuss current issues. Recent moves by EASA to reduce over-regulation for light aviation were aired here in previous years, and will no doubt be discussed again.
Special features:
It’s possible to fly into the show – it’s on an airport after all. All aircraft flying in will require a slot to be booked online. One day’s entry into the show will be free for any pilot flying in. Ultralight and glider aircraft can fly into nearby Markdorf without PPR and a shuttle bus will be laid on.
