EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 24 Around The Show

Amazing two-thirds scale P-38 Lightning replica homebuilt took over 20 years and thousands of hours of construction.

William Presler and his team at Volar Avionics and Restorations proudly displayed the Lightning at Oshkosh. William inherited the aircraft from his uncle, Jim O'Hara. Jim designed and built the aircraft with his wife Mizi (there's a second seat in the rear of the cockpit).

Van's Aircraft made a strong and reinvigorated return to the show following its Chapter 11 struggles of late 2023. While the hotly anticipated RV-15 was not on show, the company confirmed that development of the aircraft is continuing, with a hope to start production of kits in late 2025.
