Insolvent German aircraft manufacturer Flight Design has a new lease of life after two investors have agreed to take on parts of the company.
If the deal is accepted by the German court overseeing the insolvency of Flight Design, it should result in aircraft production resuming, continuing support and the restarting of development of new projects such as the C4 four-seater.
At a creditors meeting on 8 August, a combined cooperative offer from the Lindig Group in Eisenach, Germany and Aero Jones of Taichung, Taiwan was proposed. Lindig Group will take over Flight Design under an insolvency plan procedure. Aero Jones, which already manufactures Flight Design’s CT light sport aircraft under licence, will make an asset-only purchase and take ownership of the C4 project and CT business. Aero Jones will also ensure the supply of spare parts and support for all models.
Knut Rebholz, receiver of Flight Design, will according to the agreement of the parties, create an insolvency plan and will prepare the asset deal with Aero Jones. The insolvency plan will be then submitted to the court and the creditors. The termination of the insolvency proceedings is scheduled for no later than Autumn 2016.
“The creditors with their decision for the new investors have paved the way for a continuation of the core business as well as the production and support of established aircraft and completion of new developments,” said Rebholz.
The first new aircraft for existing orders may be delivered as early as the end of August, said Rebholz.
