One of the most remote islands in Europe is offering a free landing to FLYER Club members during August 2024.

Fair Isle, which sits halfway between Orkney and Shetland off the north coast of Scotland, is famous for its birds – native seabirds and passing migrant species – knitwear and historic shipwrecks. It’s owned and run by the National Trust, which also operates the airport.

Other airfields offering free landings to FLYER Club members during August are Manchester Barton, Felthorpe near Norwich, and Redhill Aerodrome.

Barton needs no introduction as it’s a favourite stopping off airfield for pilots travelling up the west coast of England, and is handy to visit the city’s sporting stadiums and city centre.

Redhill is keen to show off its new cafe, the Hangar 9 Cafe, which replaces the much-loved Pilot’s Hub.

Felthorpe is at the other end of the scale. It’s a delightful grass airfield with four runways situated in the north-west corner of the Norwich Control Zone. All flights to or from Felthorpe must be notified and cleared with Norwich ATC.

Don’t let that put you off visiting. The resident fleet has a marvellous array of aircraft and there’s also a flying school.
