Rolls-Royce Chief Test Pilot and contributor Phil O’Dell scooped the General Aviation category of the 2006 Aerospace Journalist of the Year Awards at the ceremony held at the Royal Courts of Justice in London on 17 July. Phil took the award with his piece ‘So you want to fly the Spitfire’, published in FLYER, March 2006.
Phil was in the running for an award along with regular FLYER contributor Brian Lecomber, who appeared on the shortlist for both Best GA and Best Airshow Submission.
This is the second year running that FLYER writers have won their category: last year, Miles McCallum took the trophy for Best Propulsion Submission.
