This week we are happy to be welcoming Pooleys Dawn to Dusk winner and WeeVans pilot Derek Pake to the Livestream.
Derek was an Air Traffic Control Officer for 41 years and in 2017 acquired his now-famous Vans RV8, affectionately known as ‘WeeVans’, with fellow ATCO Hamish Mitchell.
G-WEEV’s loud colour scheme was decided by a charity fundraiser for Aerobility, and Derek regularly uses the aircraft to raise funds both for Aerobility and for childhood cancer charities.
As well as winning the Royal Aero Club’s Gower Cup in 2017 in seaplane G-DRAM (Wee Dram, of course), Derek also won the Pooley’s Dawn to Dusk competition last year.
