Replica aircraft, particularly when they are a percentage size of the original, sometimes don’t quite hit the spot looks-wise, but the ScaleWings SW-51 seems to have really nailed the formula when it comes to looks, size and its engine.
With over 100,000 details perfectly reproduced- rivets, panel lines, even the fabric-covering on the rudder, power from the 160hp Rotax 916iS engine and a new scaled four blade propeller from MT, the package seems like a real winner.
FLYER gets some history, plus the latest updates about the SW-51 from ScaleWings CEO, Christian von Kessel at AERO 2026.
Huge thanks to Cirrus Aircraft, Continental Aerospace Technologies and Lone Mountain Aviation for their support.
