Flying Wednesday? Look out for the RAT

RAT

A series of Restricted Airspace corridors will be in place at various times on Wednesday, 9 November stretching from York to London.

A briefing sheet has been issued by NATS outlining the RA(T)s which are in place from 1205 to 1510, from Surface to 6,000ft. The brief does not give the purpose of the flight but it’s possibly a helicopter from the Royal Squadron.

There is presumably an error in the timings as area A is from 1205 to 1250, but area B doesn’t start until 1335. Presumably Area A should be 1305 to 1350. I’ve emailed NATS yesterday, but they haven’t bothered to correct it yet,

The real question though is why do “they” need this restricted airspace for flights that never had it before and why are we announcing to any potential terrorist when the flight is going to happen
