The winner of the Fun Flying Scholarship, funded by Derek Pake, along with Gill Howie and Berry Vissers from Squadron Prints, has been chosen.

The winner, Amy G from Surrey will now receive £2,000, which as been generously donated by Derek Pake, Gill Howie and Berry Vissers.

Amy, who is a member of the British Women Pilots’ Association (BWPA), impressed the judges with the account of her battles through adversity to start her journey to be airborne – hopefully leading to her dream of one day becoming an instructor and teaching other disabled people to fly and enjoy the fun and freedom of flight.

With the scholarship funds, Amy, who is training with Aerobility, will be able to accelerate her training to reach her initial goal of gaining her Private Pilot’s Licence.

As well as learning to fly, Amy is a keen ambassador for encouraging both women and disabled people to consider taking to the air and become aviators. It is clear that her enthusiasm and drive will help Amy go a long way to achieving all her goals and we wish her well on her journey.
