Garmin has announced the launch of two new products, the GTS 8000 Traffic alert and Collision Avoidance System (TCAS II) and the GTX 3000 Mode S Transponder.
According to Garmin, the GTS 8000 works for transport category aircraft to maintain constant surveillance, identify potential traffic conflicts and issue traffic alerts. It also incorporates Garmin’s patented CLEAR CAS technology, a blended surveillance method of active interrogation and passive reception of ADS-B data.
“With air traffic expected to continue increasing at a rapid pace, pilots want to be sure they have the best equipment onboard to enhance safety and efficiency of their operations,” said Carl Wolf, Garmin’s vice president of aviation sales and marketing. “The GTS 8000 provides pilots with that extra set of eyes to monitor surrounding traffic and the ability to offer commands to avoid immediate conflicts. The GTS 8000 also incorporates ADS-B ‘In’ technology.”
Garmin has also announced the GTX 3000, a TCAS II-compatible Mode S transponder. The company states the new transponder meets the requirements for TCAS II/ACAS II
compatibility and also meets the latest standards for full ADS-B “Out” compliance.
Both products will be standard equipment on several new aircraft platforms including the Cessna Citation TEN, Citation Latitude, Citation Longitude, Citation Sovereign, the Bombardier Learjet 70/75, as well as future forward fit and upgrade programs.
Garmin has also unveiled new features and external equipment compatibility for the G600 and G500 flight systems, improvements which Garmin believes will give aircraft owners the opportunity to “clean up their panel and enhance the reliability of the instruments by removing older equipment.” Features include the ability to display and control altitude preselect and vertical speed, and display DME distance, analog radar altitude and analog nav data.
