Garmin has announced a new version of its action camera, the VIRB Ultra 30, with a raft of useful features including voice-control.
The VIRB Ultra 30 can shoot HD footage at 4K/30fps or slow motion video at 720p/240fps. It’s claimed to be waterproof and has built-in sensors and GPS to gather automatically data to show how far, how high, and how fast it’s being used.
Other features pf the $499 VIRB Ultra 30 include:
“One of the best things about the VIRB Ultra 30 is how easy it is to use. You can actually tell the camera to start and stop recording,” said Dan Bartel of Garmin. The VIRB Ultra 30 accepts one microSD card and includes a high-sensitivity microphone that works inside the waterproof case.
The voice control recognises several commands such as “OK Garmin, start recording,” or “OK Garmin, remember that,” to tag specific moments.
Live streaming to social media sites such as YouTube is possible through the use of the free Garmin VIRB app, which also has Wi-Fi remote controls for the action camera.
