EAA AirVenture 2005, which already has confirmed a stellar lineup of the world’s most unique aircraft, has added another blockbuster.
The Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer, which Steve Fossett piloted in the first non-stop, non-refueled solo flight around the world, will take part in the 53rd annual edition of EAA AirVenture, on July 25-31 at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh.
GlobalFlyer is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday afternoon July 26, joining another Rutan record holder —White Knight/SpaceShipOne
The GlobalFlyer team assembled in Salina, Kansa for the final time when Steve Fossett received official certification of his world record.
Steve flew around the world in 67 hours, 1 minute and 46 seconds, and recorded 19,880nm which was 17 miles over the length needed to break the record.
