Helicentre Aviation Academy has announced its 2025 CPL(H) (Commercial Helicopter Pilot Licence) scholarships. The announcement was made at last Saturday’s Pilot Careers Live North event.
The quarter-of-a-million pound (GBP) scholarship fund will assist modular trainee helicopter pilots to fast-track their careers.
The scholarship awards will be made in August 2025 and are open to applicants training at the Academy’s Oxford and Leicester sites.
The flagship award will be made to two pilots who have completed their PPL(H) (Private Helicopter Pilot Licence) with the Academy by 31 July 2025.
The recipients of this award will benefit from fully-funded hour-building to meet the pre-requisite hours for the issue of the CPL(H), and in addition, the full cost of the 35-hour CPL(H) modular flying course, all in the Cabri G2 helicopter.
This could provide each of the scholarship recipients with as many as 140 flying hours, fully paid for with no training bond.
The remaining fund will be distributed amongst selected finalists, to part-fund elements of their modular commercial training course. Prospective applicants must register their interest at flyheli.co.uk/scholarships, complete an online application, and attain their PPL(H) with Helicentre Aviation by the deadline of 31 July 2025.
Over and above the scholarship fund, applicants for the inaugural Oxford CPL(H) and CPL(H)/IR Integrated courses commencing on 4 October 2024 can apply for a share of £20,000 in bursaries to part-fund their commercial pilot training.
Helicentre Aviation Academy is running its 12th integrated CPL(H) course and is currently the only UK ATO (Approved Training Organisation) with CAA approval to deliver the Integrated CPL(H) and Integrated CPL(H)/IR courses.
