The UK Home Office has introduced changes to the sGAR (submit a General Aviation Report) system for 2024. Filing an sGAR is required should you wish to fly out of the UK and return.

“We are introducing Response Messages to sGAR from January 2024,” said a Home Office statement. “These messages will confirm whether an individual has a valid permission to travel or if you need to conduct a manual check for a visa.”

This has immediate implications for any pilot, private or commercial, and the Home Office is staging an online event next Tuesday, 16 January between 1500 and 1600 GMT to help explain the system.

“Please join us if you are a pilot, operator or agent who sends passenger information to the Home Office through the sGAR web service,” continued the Home Office. “This interactive event is intended to provide further support and clarity regarding the introduction of Response Messages and is an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.

“We intend to use Slido to make the workshop more interactive and would therefore really welcome your participation in this session.”

The online event will use Microsoft Teams.  Anyone interested in attending can post any questions ahead of the event here.
