The Light Aircraft Association (LAA) has confirmed details of the landing slot booking system for this year’s LAA Rally, to be held at Sywell on 3-5 September 2021.
Rally chairperson Eryl Smith has issued this notice:
Sywell Aerodrome is responsible for air traffic, airside operations and operate the slot booking system for the event. The slot booking system will go live on Wednesday 4th August. This year if you intend to fly-in to the Rally you will need to pay for your slot at the same time as you book your slot. This is in part to minimise cash handling on the day and maximise the availability of slots for the benefit of ALL members who wish to fly in to the Rally.
One landing fee of £12.50 (+45p booking fee) covers admission for all of those on board for three days and camping by your aircraft. Please note any further landings will be charged. In the event that you are unable to take up the slot the booking receipt will entitle you to road based access without further charge. We would ask that you notify cancellation of your slot so that this can be re-allocated.
Booking slots will be available from Thursday afternoon (2 September) from 14:00 to 18:00 for those who wish to arrive prior to the official start of the event on Friday morning 3 September).
No arrivals are permitted between 15:00 and 17:59 on Friday, Saturday & Sunday due to the density of departing traffic – these slots are therefore unavailable for booking.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
This year, as a result of the lack of FISO resources the service will operate as an Air/Ground radio service. As a result there are some important procedural changes which reflect the scope of an AGCS. The recently published yellow AIC contains references to a FISO based service due to production and publication timescales. Please ensure that you familiarise yourself with the latest documentation which will be available to download via the Sywell website at the time of booking your slot and will also be available via the LAA Rally website pages.
As in previous years pilots will be required to acknowledge receipt of and have read the relevant AIC and accompanying briefings. Please ensure that you comply to ensure that we have a safe and enjoyable event.
Finally, once you have booked and paid for your slot, please ensure you print a copy of your booking receipt as proof of payment. Staff will be checking booking receipts with proof of payment on arrival. If you do not have your booking receipt, then you will be required to pay before being allowed to enter the Rally.
