Has the Kestrel made its last landing?

Reports in the US press are saying Kestrel Aircraft Company has been evicted from its planned production and engineering base at Brunswick Landing, Maine, for failing to pay its rent. Another manufacturing base at Superior, Wisconsin is also under question.

The Kestrel single-engine turboprop was originally a British design from entrepreneur Richard Noble, designated the Farnborough F1. It became the Kestrel when former Cirrus boss Alan Klapmeier took over the project. In 2015, Kestrel became part of Klapmeier’s ONE Aviation company, alongside the Eclipse light jet .

In July, Klapmeier said that plans for the Kestrel had been “shelved” with all staff working on the new Eclipse EA700 jet, then known as Project Canada.

FLYER has tried to contact Alan Klapmeier for comment but has yet to receive a response.
