It has been rumoured for years, but with the publishing of the ‘Harlow Options Study, Draft Final Report’ developers have moved a step closer to reducing North Weald to a collection of houses, industrial units and a car park. The airfield has seen some pretty serious attempts to remove it as an aviation facility over the years, most notably during the second world war when full scale demolition was resisted.

A North Weald Airfield Users Group and website has been set up to promote the airfield and to help combat the housing development plans; further details at www.northwealdairfield.org
