Single-engine piston aircraft rarely have a pressurised cabin–- and Piper’s M350, its entry-level M-class aircraft – is the only one in current production. This week the M350 received its type certificate from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
“Type certification by EASA is an important achievement,” said Simon Caldecott, President and CEO of Piper Aircraft. “The single-engine aircraft is a key part of our focus on product improvement and offers the advanced safety features that set our aircraft apart and gives our customers peace of mind.”
The M350 is the only model in the M-class range to be powered by a piston-engine – the M500 and M600 both have a turboprop engine. The M350 has a 350hp Lycoming TIO-540-AE2A which gives a max cruise speed of 213ktas at up to 25,000ft.
Other features of the M350 include:
List price of the 2016 Piper M350 is $1,155,500 (about £940,000).
