Somehow the news that Textron Aviation has introduced a special edition colour scheme for its Beechcraft Bonanza piston single and Baron piston twin passed us by at Oshkosh this year. Possibly because there was nothing about it at the event.
But here it is, the ‘Speedster’ special edition paint scheme which will be available for aircraft delivered in 2023.
The paint scheme is inspired, says Textron, by former air racer Pat McEwen who competed around the US during the 1960s and 70s with a vee-tail Bonanza finished in a red and white checkerboard design.
“The new special edition Speedster models will feature the Radiant Red Pearl and Matterhorn White checkerboard exterior paint scheme, as well as subtle checkerboard touches throughout the interior that flawlessly balance a modern design with a vintage touch,” said Textron.
