A record 987 applications were received by The Air League for its Flying, Gliding and Electric Flying Scholarships from individuals across the UK in 2024.
More than £2m of funding has been awarded to young people pursuing a career in the aviation industry over the past decade, said the League.
The Air League’s scholarship programme is the broadest in the UK and includes five categories of powered Flying Scholarships, three categories of Gliding Scholarships, an industry first sustainability-focused Electric Scholarship, and two-week Aerospace Engineering placement Scholarships.
This is alongside a Drone programme, currently open to applications, the Battle Back veterans’ course and the Soaring to Success schools’ outreach programme.
The 2024 Flying, Gliding and Electric Flying Scholarship application period closed on Sunday 31 March 2024 and Scholarships are expected to be awarded in June, with courses beginning from July.

The Air League is also expanding its team of writers.
“We’re on the lookout for enthusiastic Air League Members to write monthly articles, stories and other content to feature in our Members’ Forum and Newsletter,” said the League.
“With over 1800 members worldwide, we have a huge audience of aviators. The topics covered can be absolutely anything aviation-related that interests you.”
