The latest version of the Remos light sport aircraft, the GXiS, made its maiden flight last week. On 26 May 26th, the Remos GXiS took off for its maiden flight after ground tests were successfully completed and the required permissions were issued by the authorities.
“First we did some taxi tests with increasing speed until the nosewheel came up,” said the company.
“At 11:20 UTC pilot and engineer Christian Majunke took off for the first flight from the runway in Pasewalk. In total, he and Daniel Browne spent about one hour in the air. All values were in the green and the aircraft behaved as expected. The full speed range from stall to high speed cruise was flown.”
Remos plans a full set of flight tests to certify the aircraft with EASA as a light sport aircraft (CS-LSA) and as an ultralight. It will also be offered in the USA as an ASTM-compliant LSA.
The biggest difference from previous Remos GX aircraft is the new Rotax 912iS fuel-injected engine. However, Remos also claims to have invented a system called SMARTstart which makes almost all engine checks automatically.
