Sherburn Aero Club is offering low rate hour-building packages to pilots working towards a Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL).

A ten-hour package flying a Cessna 152, for instance, works out at £140 per hour – down from an already competitive £168 per hour.

“We recognise that hour building is a crucial step for pilots working towards their Commercial Pilot Licence,” said the club. “That’s why we offer tailored packages designed to help you accumulate flight hours efficiently and affordably.”

A 15-hour package for a Piper PA-28-161 Warrior costs £2,650, making an hourly rate of £177, a saving of £31 an hour over the standard club rate of £208 per hour.

Membership of the aero club is required and they point out that all hour-building packages are non-refundable. “We encourage you to carefully consider your requirements before making a purchase,” said the club.

Sherburn Aero Club wins AOPA award

In September, Sherburn Aero Club won the 2024 AOPA Aerodrome of the year Award, presented by the Chairman of the CAA, Sir Stephen Hillier.

AOPA said, “Sherburn Aero Club is a relaxed, friendly aerodrome which is popular with visitors, club members and local residents.

“The airfield has well maintained grass and hard runways, an RNP approach for use by any qualified pilots, a relaxed attitude to PPR, a great cafe and modern clubhouse with disabled facilities.

“Pilots receive a friendly welcome; the staff work hard to connect with their local communties and schools and run charitable events for excellant causes.

“Sherburn Aero Club is everything a good British aero club should be: accessible, friendly and affordable. It is a real asset to the local area and the general aviation community.”
