STC for Nogaro's Rotax Robin conversion

Nogaro Robin Rotax engine

Nogaro Aviation, the French company behind the Rotax 912iS Sport engine conversion for a Robin DR400 featured in the August 2016 edition of FLYER, has received a Supplemental Type Certificate from EASA for the installation.

The conversion was designed and developed by aircraft maintenance company Nogaro Aviation with these objectives:

  • Reduction in fuel cost
  • Less noise
  • Easy access for maintenance
  • Higher safety
  • Reduction in CO2 emissions
  • Simple operation
  • Better cross-country performance.

The 115hp Rotax with accessories is 60kg lighter than the 120hp Lycoming O-235 it replaces, and is fitted with electronically controlled fuel injection. Because the Rotax engine is lighter, the installation is mounted further forwards to maintain the original centre of gravity, but also delivers performance gains.
