The new UK agent for the BushCat kitplane and charity Aerobility, which helps disabled people fly, are to build a BushCat Aircraft over six days of this year’s Farnborough International Airshow, 16-22 July 2018.
The South African BushCat is a two-seat high-wing aircraft available with nosewheel or tailwheel landing gear, or with floats. Its construction is simple – aluminium tubes joined together with steel brackets, and covered in Trilaminate fabric.
Even so, to complete the aircraft in just six days and fly it at the end of the show is a big ask. It will be built by 15 team members nominated by Aerobility, and the project has the backing of the LAA although the aircraft has yet to receive LAA approval. The build will be the launch of the BushCat in the UK.
“This is an exciting project for everyone involved and will help raise awareness for Aerobility,” said a spokesperson for the charity.
BushCat UK is supplying the kit but Aerobility is asking for donations to sponsor a part of the aircraft. All proceeds will go to the charity. Aerobility will keep and maintain the aircraft after the show.
