A nosewheel version of the Sherwood Scout fixed-wing microlight is now available from The Light Aircraft Company (TLAC) for both the factory-built and kit versions of the aircraft. The tailwheel version was launched last year, following type approval of the aircraft.
The microlight Scout has a max weight of 450kg, payload of 268kg, foldable wings, and is available with three engine options: 93hp D Motor, 80 or 100hp Rotax 912, and 85hp Jabiru 2200.
Paul Hendry-Smith Managing Director of TLAC said, “Our first focus was to get production of the Scout tailwheel version up and running. Our new CNC tube profiling machine is critical to engineering and producing a premium quality product. Production of the Scout is now fully on-stream and we are delighted to offer what we feel is the game-changer, the nosewheel variant.”
TLAC has also confirmed that the Sherwood Ranger is at an advanced stage of the Type Approval process. Once confirmed, the Sherwood Ranger will become the first series production biplane to be built in the UK since 1945.
In 2014, TLAC was awarded A8-1 and A8-9 approval covering Design, Production and Flight Testing, allowing them to offer factory built microlight aircraft.
