Tracey-Curtis Taylor has succeeded in flying her 1942 Boeing Stearman from the UK to Darwin, Australia, emulating the famous 1930 flight of Amy Johnson.
Tracey took 93 days to complete the 13,000 miles and felt “euphoria and relief” on seeing Australia. “I’m feeling just a bit windblown, sunburnt and a bit punch drunk,” she said.
That wasn’t the end of the journey however. Tracy flew on to Sydney, making a grand entrance over the famous harbour. Now she plans to have the Stearman transported to Seattle, on the west coast of the USA for a trans-USA flight.
