1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th plus 6th and 8th – that’s the incredible result by the six-member British microlight team at the World Air Games held in Dubai in early December 2015. David Broom was crowned world champion with a gold medal, Paul Dewhurst silver and Rees Keene bronze.
The top three were followed by Mark Fowler in 4th, Rees Keene’s father Rob was 6th, and Chris Saysell 8th. All the pilots were flying P&M QuikR flex-wing microlight aircraft equipped with Union Flag wings.
Chris Saysell said, “The World Air Games is our version of the Olympic Games. It’s a big deal for us flying in Dubai at the FAI World Air Games 2015.”
As Chris mentioned, the World Air Games is an event staged by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the governing body of world air sports. It’s the premier international multi-discipline air sports event with the world’s top air sports athletes. It’s held every four years and this year was staged in Dubai.
