The UK’s first Diamond DA50 RG aircraft has arrived and was shown at the Private Flyer event last Friday.
The DA50 RG was delivered to the UK agent, Gemstone Aviation which is based at Gamston Airport, and features a cashmere beige leather interior.
Henrik Burkal, a director at Gemstone Aviation, said, “This was the first public showing of the DA50 RG in the UK, and we are delighted to say that it attracted a large number of potential customers.
“The launch of a brand-new aircraft design is a very rare and exciting event, and together with Diamond we will continue with our promotion of this new exciting, unique and environmentally friendly aircraft.
“The five-seat DA50 RG fits well into the UK market, and with a maximum takeoff weight under 2,000kg it weighs in just under the threshold for paying Eurocontrol charges. This will give the DA50 RG the lowest operating costs in its class.
“Unfortunately we are not able to fly the aircraft until we receive the Certificate of Airworthiness from the UK CAA, but we will, of course, be able to start demonstrations as soon as that happens.”
The next public showing for the DA50 RG is planned for the Private Flyer show at Wycombe on 17-18 September.

Great to see it ‘in the flesh’ at the Private Flyer event at Leeds East Airport (former RAF Church Fenton) last week, where it is still currently hangared. Remarkable looking machine.
Sorry. Way too ugly for me. Their twin is beautiful though.
