Opus Aircraft, based in Rockingham County, North Carolina., will be sold at auction on 15 November 15.
Opus, which launched at Shiloh Airport in 2004, produced the ARC Super 2 light sport aircraft. The ARC Super 2 is an all-aluminum design based on the British-designed ARV Super2 (pictured), a two-seat, strut-braced light aircraft first produced in the 1980s by UK pilot, previous land-speed record holder and entrepreneur Richard Noble.
Sealed bids will be accepted for the entire company, which has assets including one airworthy aircraft, a second aircraft that is “98 percent complete,” four partially completed airframes, all structural jigs, hundreds of thousands of spare parts, and “all drawings, plans, copyrights, patterns, accessories and equipment.” The minimum bid is $199,000, and the company will be sold as long as that minimum is met.
