Who says 'Yes!' to Lego's Old Flying Club?

Lego's Old Flying Club & Hangar needs our votes!

Lego needs our votes! One of the ideas team – a pilot – at the plastic bricks toy maker has come up with the Old Flying Club & Hangar but they need our support to convince management to go ahead.

“Packed with accurate details, this hangar was inspired by my own real-life flying club, as well as Art Deco hangars of the 1930s,” said the unnamed developer. “It’s the perfect place for aspiring pilot minifigs to hang out and learn how to fly.

“I think it would make a great Lego set, as it is something that has rarely been done before (the only example of an official Lego hangar being 60103 Airport Air Show) and never in a set aimed at older fans,” they continue.

“I feel the classic look of the hangar makes it a great addition as a small, rural airport to many fans’ Lego cities or just as a standalone display piece. It could also be an enjoyable introductory set to people involved in general aviation.”

The concept set features:

  • Interesting building techniques, both new and familiar
  • Opening hangar doors, turn a simple gear mechanism to open them
  • Removable roof, with accurate internal structure
  • Detailed mechanic’s workbench with spare engine – keep them flying!
  • A mezzanine floor with a desk (complete with model airplane), where pilots can plot routes and write notes.
  • A single-engine aerobatic airplane that seats 2 minifigs
  • 5 minifigs in total: 2 pilots, a mechanic and 2 visitors
  • Over 2000 parts.

“With 10,000 votes it has the chance to be considered as an official Lego set,” said the person behind the idea.
