World Pilots' Day 2024

It’s World Pilots’ Day on Friday 26 April 2024. Pilots and passengers everywhere are invited to celebrate the event.

The WPD is celebrated every year on 26 April. The date was established as Pilots’ Day by the Turkish Airline Pilots Association to commemorate the first flight of Turkey’s first pilot, Fesa Evrensev. In 2014, the idea was picked up by the International Federation of Airline Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA) and turned into World Pilots’ Day.

Fesa Evrensev was Turkey's first pilot – the holder of Badge Number 1 – and later he became the first General Manager of Turkish Airlines.

The British Airline Pilots’ Association (BALPA) is staging an event ‘Tea for Two’ tomorrow to highlight the safety campaign to keep two pilots in the cockpits of airliners.

FLYER invites all pilots, private and professional, and enthusiasts to celebrate the day and share flying photos using the hashtag #WorldPilotsDay on social media.
