YES, the Youth & Education Support Strut of the Light Aircraft Association (LAA), has an ambitious target to fly 2,024 young people this year.

To reach its target, YES is inviting LAA Struts, flying schools and clubs, groups, airfields and individuals to join in and fly as many young people as possible in 2024.

The first step is the 2024 YES Conference which will be held at Shuttleworth, Old Warden on 23 March at 10.00, with delegates from youth organisations, charities, aviation clubs and associations, aircrew, museums, engineers and more.

YES President, Stewart Luck, said, “As the days get longer and the weather gets warmer it’s time to wake up our aviation mojo and be ambitious about joining up with others in the spirit of aviation.

“If you have ever been to Oshkosh for the EAA AirVenture Fly-in you will know exactly what I am talking about. The feeling there is infectious and it gives you hope and ideas that you can do a lot of stuff.

“YES members and supporters would like to see some of that special spirit bear fruit in the UK and for you all to join us to support the UK scheme that we call Young Aviators.

“The main push for the initiative is during the month of July this year but just fly when you can!”

Examples of the work YES does include the Cornwall-based charity Feet Off the Ground (FOG) managed by Pete White, and the Young Aviators/The Plane
