Barton reports busiest July since 2008

July saw the highest number monthly total of aircraft at movements at City Airport & Heliport since 2008. There were nearly 6,000 aircraft movements at the site over the month, no doubt buoyed by the tremendous weather giving perfect conditions for flying.
The Airport and Heliport saw growth across all types of aircraft, in particular the modern three-axis microlights which saw the most growth. There was a record number of these aircraft using the airfield at the Airport during July.
A spokesperson for City Airport & Heliport said, “We are thrilled to see such a high number of people using our facility throughout the month. We waived landing charges for any aircraft that flew into the airfield on our annual Open Day on 7 July, which resulted in the busiest weekend for the airport, in terms of aircraft movements, of the year so far. We hope to see more and more people use our airfield over the remaining summer months.”
One of the Airport’s tenants, Mainair Flying School who operate a fleet of three axis microlights also reported its busiest month on record. Chris Copple, Chief Flying Instructor at Mainair, said, “It is great to see the airfield so busy. For the last six weeks all our instructors have been working flat out to meet the needs of our students, the result being that many of them have made significant progress over this period.’’ Click here for more
