Bristell Jabiru fit on show at LAA Rally

Displayed alongside their existing Rotax 912S-powered Bristell, the team had also flown in their Jabiru 3300-engined Bristell to the Rally. The shorter nosed, Jabiru-powered version had plenty of admirers, with Bristell’s Tony Palmer explaining that sales are currently split between the two around 60-40 in favour of the Jabiru. Tony added that initial test-flying has indicated the C of G to be “perfect”, while the aircraft is producing 129kts at 75% cruise. Farry described sales for the company as “steady” with around one aircraft a month, although Tony added that they may have to consider a price increase towards the end of 2015 in line with increases from the factory. While the Jabiru engine option is around £800 more expensive than the Rotax, buyers save more money on the prop/engine combination – all in, the Jabiru/prop combination gives a £1,500 saving. Approval is also pending for the aircraft to operate as a glider tow, and Farry explained that several builders of the tailwheel version were making great progress.
