CAA GA Safety Awards for 2008

The CAA has launched its General Aviation Safety Awards for 2008, and is now inviting nominations.

The Awards, which have been running for nearly 15 years, are presented in recognition of good airmanship or practical skills displayed in potentially serious incidents directly related to flying.

Award nominees may be drawn from any sector go GA, and can be either individuals or an organisation (the last winners were a team of air traffic controllers from Newcastle and an aerodrome manager from Northumberland).

Details of how to nominate, together with an entry form, are on-line at www.caa.co.uk/ga_award. Closing date for nominations is 19 January 2009.

The winning team mentioned above won the Award for 2006: the 2007 Awards were postponed because so few nominations were received. However, those that were submitted are being carried forward, and will be considered for this year’s Awards.
