CAA looking for a director with GA experience

UK CAA

The UK CAA is looking for a Non-Executive Director with General Aviation expertise.

The job description says, “Secretary of State for Transport and the Aviation Minister are looking for an outstanding individual who can participate in setting the direction of a key transport regulator as the aviation sector recovers from the impact of the global COVID-19 pandemic, and shaping the real-world experience of the multiple stakeholders the CAA serves.

“The role will provide independent and constructive challenge to the CAA’s executive team, ensuring the CAA delivers against its strategic objectives.

“We are looking for applicants with high level executive or non-executive Board experience and the ability to contribute effectively across the breadth of the CAA’s work.

“This specific role is for a person with expertise in the General Aviation sector (e.g. private, display, heritage, recreational, remotely piloted aircraft systems, and business aviation other than passenger carriage on scheduled flights).

“This role will not be one of representing or championing the General Aviation sector but rather the appointee will bring their own understanding and experience to bear across the whole range of the CAA’s work.

“This appointment is for a three-year term, with a time commitment of up to 60 days per year and a base salary of £25,000 per year. Non-Executive Directors may also be required to sit on panel hearings about safety or licensing matters, reimbursed at an additional day rate of £430.

“However please note this is not intended to be a representational role on behalf of General Aviation and it may not be possible to hold it concurrently with some other General Aviation related roles.

“We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in aviation, transport or central government.”
