Cardiff Airport announces landing fees reduction

Cardiff Airport has announced radical reductions in landing fees at the airport, as well as for overshoots/circuits and for parking.
The management of Cardiff Airport, now owned by the Welsh Government following a £52m acquisition earlier this year from Spanish infrastructure group Abertis, will implement all new rates from Tuesday 1 October 2013. The rates are exclusive of VAT.
Formerly a light single would pay just under £27 (including VAT) – for aircraft up to 2mt (1 – 2,000kg) the new rate (excl VAT) is £17.
Overshoots and circuits, for which Cardiff is particularly popular with training aircraft from Bournemouth and the like, are now £6 per movement.
Parking is free for the first four hours and thereafter £10 per 24 hours or part thereof.
Also the new fees for aircraft up to 2mt are inclusive of policing charges.
All GA traffic is handled on Cardiff’s south side with the former Cambrian Airways admin headquarters, the base of Aeros which will be collecting these fees.
For any further information on rates, contact Marion Williams on 01446 712656, or email [email protected].
Cardiff is not PPR, (an early call on Cardiff approach 119.150 is essential though for entry to controlled airspace) but any visitors are advised to contact Aeros before setting out on 01446 710000.
This welcome reduction in landing fees and parking charges comes hot on the heels of the first Cardiff Airport Fly-In on Saturday 14 September when over 40 light aircraft flew to Cardiff from all over the UK to take advantage of a reduced £15 landing fee. It is hoped that general aviation is now back at Cardiff Airport and the new rates will bring a boost to the airport’s economy and that of local businesses.
